Driven by a desire to meet the increasing demand for affordable housing for senior South Australians, the Board of The Cottage Homes made the important decision to recruit its inaugural Executive Officer. Following a recruitment process, the Board is pleased to announce that Ben Sarre has been appointed to the role. An experienced Executive and non-Executive Director, Ben is excited to be working with The Cottage Homes at such a crucial time in its history.
“The Cottage Homes is a remarkable organisation” Ben said. “Housing vulnerable older South Australians for 150 years, entirely through the efforts of volunteers, is incredible. We now look to the future, and our role in affordably housing the senior members of our community to live independently.”
Ben’s previous roles in the not-for-profit sector, in both affordable housing and aged care, make him ideally suited to lead The Cottage Homes in the next phase of its journey. He is passionate about ensuring the older members of our community are adequately cared for and believes access to suitable housing is a key aspect of well-being. “Housing is a basic human right, and we owe it to the older members of our community to ensure they are safely housed” he said. “South Australians living on the Age Pension, who don’t own their home and have limited support networks, face rising rents and the risk of homelessness. We are here for them”.
