Exciting progress for our new Yankalilla site

The Cottage Homes is thrilled to share an exciting update on the development of our brand-new site at Yankalilla.

We’re thrilled to share an exciting update on the development of our brand-new Cottage Homes site in Yankalilla.

Planning consent has officially been granted by the District Council of Yankalilla, marking a major milestone in this exciting project that will soon provide affordable, independent housing for older South Australians on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

This site represents several firsts for Cottage Homes, including the use of innovative modular homes, which are built offsite and transported into place. This modern approach significantly reduces construction time and waste while maintaining the high quality, safety and comfort that our residents value.

We’ve been working closely with our project managers Sensum, John Byleveld Architects on the design of the modular homes, and URPS on the site layout. Together, and in consultation with the District Council of Yankalilla, we’ve reached an exciting stage of planning approval and design refinement.

Earlier this year, we signed a land lease agreement with Club Fleurieu, the first of its kind in our long history. This collaboration is allowing us to create a new Cottage Homes community within the Club’s spacious grounds, surrounded by beautiful gardens, orchards and outdoor spaces that encourage connection and wellbeing.

The 14 one-bedroom, one-bathroom self-contained units will be built close to the existing Club Fleurieu rooms and Men’s Shed, with green landscaping and shared communal areas designed to foster social connection among residents.

Next steps will see Cottage Homes go out to tender to appoint a builder before Christmas 2025, with construction expected to commence in early 2026.

We can’t wait to see these homes craned into place next year — and to bring to life a welcoming new community for the Fleurieu.
