For several months now, volunteer researchers Dr Valerie Liddle and Mrs Barbara Ogden have been sourcing documents and images at the Mortlock Library as well interviewing key people with the aim of providing material for displays to mark the beginning of The Cottage Homes’ 150 years celebrations in August 2022.
Dr Liddle said, “This research will build on the booklet produced in 1986 providing further details of the early years as well as creating a record of more recent times.”
Plans are underway to create visuals of the history which will be displayed at libraries and community centres in council areas where our cottage homes are located.
