Builder Appointed for new Cottage Homes at Yankalilla

The Cottage Homes has appointed a builder to deliver our newest community in Yankalilla, on track to welcome tenants by Christmas 2026.

We are pleased to announce a major milestone for Cottage Homes, with the appointment of Sarah Constructions to bring our new community at Yankalilla to life.

This marks an exciting step forward for the project, with site works set to commence shortly and the timeline on track to welcome tenants into their new homes by Christmas 2026.

The Yankalilla development will deliver 14 one-bedroom homes for age pensioners on the southern Fleurieu, addressing a growing need for affordable rental housing in the region. The homes will be located on land generously leased to Cottage Homes by Club Fleurieu, enabling older South Australians to remain connected to their local community.

The appointment of Sarah Constructions brings a highly regarded South Australian builder to the project, recognised for its strong track record in delivering high-quality developments. Importantly, the project will also support the local economy, with Sarah engaging contractors and trades from across the southern Fleurieu.

The development represents a first for Cottage Homes, with the introduction of modular construction. The homes, designed by John Byleveld Architects, will be built offsite and transported to the site for installation. This innovative approach will reduce construction time and minimise waste, while still delivering comfortable, well-designed homes.

Surrounded by landscaped communal spaces, the new homes have been carefully planned to support independent living while encouraging connection between residents.

With construction about to begin, we are excited to see this new community take shape in the months ahead. This milestone reflects the strength of collaboration between project partners, and a shared commitment to increasing access to affordable housing for older South Australians.

We look forward to welcoming the first tenants to Yankalilla by Christmas 2026, an important step in continuing our mission to provide secure, affordable homes for those who need them most.
